i realize that i don’t drive a small car, but it’s not like i drive a monster truck or anything. lately i’ve been getting more annoyed at parallel parking on the street. parking can be a royal pain in the rear by our offices, especially when one doesn’t want to pay to park everyday. we have figured out the spots on the street that aren’t metered and aren’t 2-hour only. this has been a process of dodging the over-zealous meter maids of hillcrest.
i wish i had the ability to just nudge cars one way or the other. some people just don’t know how to parallel park and take up with their one car what could be two spots. sometimes it’s a result of people leaving in bigger cars for smaller cars to take their spots, etc. what if we invented smart streets or curbs that could just slide cars up or down the street a few feet to maximize parking? it would be very green since people would have to make fewer loops up and down the street looking for a spot. if i were an engineer and a genius i would get right on that. seeing as how i am neither, i must figure out a way to get the patent on such an idea until i find someone to make it happen…hmmmm… ~aroll
Not so sure it would be green. The massive amount of carbon output required to design, prototype, test, and install these things in cities all over the country would far outweigh a few orbits around the block.
On another topic, if you’re in the market for a smaller car, I highly recommend the current Hyundai Accent hatchback. Way less than 10K for a new one. Mine was very comfortable and reliable.
well thanks for bursting my bubble…on the other topic, how much cargo space does it have? we haul a lot of stuff around in my car for the church…not to mention my ever-growing keyboard rig…
Not a huge amount. It’s a hatchback though, so you can fold the rear seat flat. You could probably get a couple keyboards in it.
